Litigation Management Audits

ICALM Group audits are designed to identify practices and procedures that can be improved. While substantial dollar savings are typically identified as well, our focus is upon enhancing relationships, improving communication and assuring that a methodology is in place to achieve cost-effective and successful results.

In the course of nationwide litigation management audits ICALM Group has conducted in matters totaling more than five hundred million dollars, the legal audit process has proved to be a productive means of controlling the continual growth of litigation costs for corporations and insurers such as Aetna, AIG, Allstate, Allied Group, Chubb, CIGNA, General Accident, Grange Insurance Group, Hartford, INA, Northbrook, Shand Morahan, TIG Insurance, Underwriters at Lloyd's of London and others.

Claims operations also benefit from periodic audits and in-house training. Audits need not be major undertakings involving protracted reviews of the systems and procedures in use by claims personnel. If a substantial increase in claims volume or material changes in the nature of claims to be handled are contemplated, a sufficiently broad capability study should be considered. However, if your objective is to assure and enhance the quality and effectiveness of current claims operations, you can often do so through a more narrow audit that targets specific lines of business or selected files. Such audits often identify investigative or settlement techniques that will allow claims personnel to handle a greater number of files in a shorter period of time while achieving more favorable results. With respect to files that are in suit, audits often identify substantial legal savings. However, the greatest impact of such audits can be achieved by utilizing them as part of a continuing professional development program.
